No “compromise” on Steel Battalion’s difficulty, warns Capcom
The Kinect version of Steel Battalion will be hard, Capcom’s warned.
“In terms of the difficulty as a game, we didn’t want to compromise. Capcom and From Software? Seriously, what do you expect?” producer Kenji Kataoka told Eurogamer.
From Software has acquired a reputation for unforgiving games, notably the King’s Field series and more recently, Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls.
The developer also has a long history of mech sims, having been primarily responsible for the Armored Core series.
“Giiven From Software’s stern craftsmanship, we didn’t want to limit what they do, because that then gives us no advantage of working with From Software,” Kataoka added.
“If we don’t let them do what they want to do, then we could have chosen any developer. But we had to use From Software. So we said, yes, go ahead and go all out. Go nuts. So they did.”
Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor is the sequel to an Xbox title best known for its huge, expensive controller peripheral. The new version uses a control pad and Kinect gestures instead. It’s expected in June.
