GSC: Bethesda does not have the rights to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. creator and GSC boss Sergei Grigorovich has nixed rumors that Bethesda was trying to acquire the rights to the game franchise.

According to a post on the game’s Facebook page: “There is no truth to the allegations that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. rights have been sold to Bethesda. The rights belong to Sergiy Grygorovych, the founder of GSC Game World.”

Last night, it was said a statement from Grigorovich himself – although never validated – claimed the firm was looking at gaining the rights, but apparently it was all hokum.

Meanwhile, Bethesda said it never confirms or denies rumors, so luckily social media took set the record straight for everyone.

Thanks, GameFront.

Bethesda’s a fine company in its own right, but the kind of “RPGs” Bethesda makes are very different to STALKER.
