Kirby 20th anniversary collection heading to Wii

Saturday, 21st April 2012 14:37 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

To celebrate the 20th anniversary Kirby, Nintendo will release a special disc for Wii containing previously released, fan-favorite Kirby games.

No word just yet on what titles will be included in the compilation, nor a date were announced.

“A new Mario game and a big Kirby celebration will help make 2012 an especially great year for Nintendo fans,” said Scott Moffitt, NOA’s EVP of Sales & Marketing. “Whether they’re playing at home on Wii or using Nintendo 3DS to have fun on the go, players can look forward to experiencing some of our biggest franchises in exciting ways.”

Additional Kirby anniversary activities will be revealed at a later date and the eShop in Japan is getting Kirby’s Adventure.

Glad to see Kirby getting a little more love from Nintendo these days. Same with seeing a Kid Icarus game for 3DS, made from an old NES property with almost no plot or characters. While Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon will always be the Nintendo bread and butter, I like seeing more done with these ‘second tier’ franchises.

That, and Kirby is freakin’ adorable. :)
