Maximum torque: Crysis 3 locked for spring 2013 release
Crysis 3 will launch in spring 2013, EA said today, with the publisher calling the Crytek sequel the “first blockbuster shooter” of next year.

Crysis 3 will be the “first blockbuster shooter of 2013,” EA announced today after it jumped the gun last week. The game will release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
“Crysis 3 is a thrilling mix of sandbox gameplay, advanced combat and hi-tech human and alien weaponry that shooter fans will love,” said Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli.
“Leveraging the latest CryENGINE technology, we’re able to deliver seven unique themes that offer stunning and visually loaded gameplay experiences. We cannot wait until people get their hands on the game.”
Crysis 3 takes place in 2047 in New York. Prophet from Crysis 2 has returned to the city, only to find it encased in a Nanodome by Cell Corporation. The Nanodomes are part of Cell’s plan for global domination.
Players can expect to go up against both human and Ceph enemies.
EA’s also announced the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition. Those who pre-order will get early access to the new bow weapon, the Hunter Nanosuit module with extra functionality, an XP head-start for multiplayer, a unique bow skin and three exclusive dog tags.
Three pre-order packs for specific retailers have also been announced:
- Stalker Pack — Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: for players who like to stalk their prey from the shadows the Stalker Pack provides early multiplayer access to the deadly semi-auto Jackal shotgun. This powerful, close-range shotgun comes with a unique silencer attachment, custom weapon skin and two exclusive themed in-game dog tags.
- Overkill Pack — Includes the base game, all Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: the Overkill Pack features early multiplayer access to the Typhoon assault weapon and skin. Spewing 500 rounds a second, the Typhoon gives players the ability to go guns blazing to take back the Liberty Dome. Also included are two exclusive Overkill themed in-game dog tags.
- Predator Pack — Includes the base game, all the Hunter Edition content and the following early multiplayer unlocks: the Predator Pack delivers early multiplayer access to the Feline submachine gun and exclusive camo. With an extremely fast rate of fire and a 60 round magazine the Feline is highly effective and deadly, at short range.

I think it’ll be interesting to see the difference in PR talk between this and the last version.
Some of the stuff that EA came out with in the build up to Crysis 2 seemed a bit arrogant.
If they just focus on making a top game in it’s own right, I might be interested.

If your invasion force is vulnerable to stone age weaponry, you need to seriously rethink your strategy.

I still haven’t played the second one. I should do that. Saw far too many people moaning about it.

Yea this is def shouldn’t be called Crysis ”3”.
Still, can’t wait one of the better FPS that was released in long time.
Edit: I think this ”urban jungle” its actually great way to combine city and jungle with same character and story.

MASSIVE SPOILERS WARNING:
Wait, how is it is says PROPHET is returning to the city? I know he’s alive in the suit, but I thought a gunshot to the face kinda would seem he’s not alive anymore.

Wow, announcing the pre-order pack AT THE SAME time as the actual announcement of the game.
What’s next? First revealing the pre-order exclusives for a mystery game and then announcing a week later?
EDIT: Also, love the Crysis 1+2 theme of green, urban jungle. Loved that look in Enslaved.

@18, If you finished Crysis 2, personalities of Prophet (stored in the nanosuit) and Alcatraz merged together at the end of Crysis 2, and it’s now calling itself Prophet.

Yeah, but they were up against useless Storm Troopers who couldnt shoot straight and wore debilitating plastic armour with apparently no defensive benefits whatsoever.
…Oh, oh wait. …Well fuck.

Really felt that Crysis 2 had a better campaign and was more fun than the last 2 CoDs, even though it wasn’t stellar. the Multiplayer was far more stable and entertaining, it’s too bad that my family/buddies still stick to COD.

Those screenshots will look nothing like the finished game in any way, shape or form.
