Vita WiFi models sold out at GAME Australia

Thursday, 16th February 2012 04:49 GMT By Brenna Hillier

GAME Australia staff have confirmed that the chain’s initial allocation of WiFi-only Vita stock has been sold through.

Pre-orders for the WiFi version can no longer be processed through the chain’s online store as no WiFi-only stock will be available on launch day. WiFi-only pre-orders must be made in-store for pick up sometime in March, with the second shipment of stock.

Vita pre-orders at GAME include a free copy of Ridge Racer, and the specialist store is one of just three retailers in Australia offering an official gift pack on Vita pre-orders, the others being JB HiFi and EB Games.

EB Games Australia still has both models available for pre-order at time of writing, and JB HiFi still has stock of the WiFi model; the retailer will not stock the 3G model due to conflicts with its status as a Telstra retailer.

Other retailers like Harvey Norman and Dick Smith appear to have stock available. Sony confirmed today that the Vita will not be sold through general department stores.

The Vita launches in Australia on February 23; the WiFi only model is $349.95 while the 3G-enabled version if $419.95.

At full RRP? I can’t wait for the PSV but even I’m not going to spend that much, if it were the same price as the Yanks, I’d sweep it up in a heartbeat.

349$ in Austraila and what’s the problem? I bought my WiFi model for 333$ for example and it was a discount. It was a huge discount because my local shop started to sell them a bit earlier.

As long as they don’t give out absolute numbers, it doesn’t mean anything either way.
