Valve titles appear on Impulse
RPS has noted that Valve has made its games available on GameStop download service Impulse. The marketplace, which was owned by Stardock up until last year when it was bought by GameStop, now has five titles from the company: Portal 2, The Half-Life Complete Collection, Left 4 Dead 1 + 2 and The Orange Box, all of which end up requiring Steam activation anyways. Still, your options on where to buy Valve games has become more broader now.
More details here.

Because Impulse is a part of Gamestop.

….and? There are many other download services with just as much clout as Gamestop.

Who? Direct2drive is now a part of Gamefly. Gamestop has the largest control over selling video games right next to Amazon but since AMazon doesn’t own a digital retail service.

@4, actually, Amazon do have a digital retail service. Amazon.com does PC and Mac downloads – The UK version will be launching later this year.
