Nintendo’s begun the 3DS Ambassador Program in Europe, enabling owners who bought the handheld before last month’s price-cut to get ten free game downloads.

The free games, from the NES era, on offer are Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr.,The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, Metroid, Balloon Fight, Wrecking Crew, Mario & Yoshi, Ice Climber and NES Open Tournament Golf.

To get your free games, you go to eShop, find settings, then scroll down to the bottom of the list of your downloaded games, where you’ll find them there waiting for you. This is assuming that you connected to the eShop last month to take part in the offer.

The Ambassador Program was announced by Nintendo as a way to make it up to early adaptors of 3DS after announcing a price-cut last month for the handheld.

I downloaded all ten, but I am a bit disappointed to be honest. I mean, I knew that it’s the NES games and all but.. I played about an hour with ALL 10 of them combined.. The magic of the games is just completely gone.. I am actually waiting for the GBA games. They might offer some value.. But no way 90 euro’s. Nintendo would have done better if they would have offered 2 3DS games that would come out the coming year. Or better yet: all people that bought it get super mario 3DS + Mario kart 3DS for free.. That would have been fantastic.. But of course, Nintendo would never do something like that.. Ever.
