New BBC iPlayer launches for PS3

BBC’s announced this morning that its release an all-new version of BBC iPlayer for TVs. The new version is “specifically designed” for the living room TV. It comes with a new design, an improved search and the ability to add favorites. V3 of iPlayer is now available on PS3, with it coming to other “many more TV screens in the coming months.”

Have they improved the quality of the stream any of late? I watched something on the Wii iPlayer a few months back and it was like watching with a mosaic filter applied.

The streams sweet on the ps3. I just hope the beeb don’t fuck it up with this update.

For those who don’t auto sign in, you have to sign in for iPlayer app to update :)

I wonder if the new version will still conflict with my Western Digital HDD. Some function of that line of hard drives doesn’t seem to get along with iPlayer, causing some annoying hitching.

Yep, it’s super-crisp HD now, akin to SkyHD quality. Unfortunately my internet isn’t fast enough to stream it without hitches.
