Quick Quotes: SWTOR game director on lack of a firm release date

“We don’t want to give a specific release date until we’re absolutely certain that when we launch the game it’ll be a smooth launch and a bug-free experience. It would be terrible if we released and the servers fell down or there was a bug that detracted from the overall experience. It’d be terrible for the Star Wars fans… and it’d be disappointing for the team members. People like myself, I’ve been on this project for six years. I want it to live up to the expectations.” – SWTOR game director James Ohlen reiterating to Newsarama why there isn’t a set release date for the MMO just yet.

It’s a good call. I’ve seen far too many MMO’s that have been rushed out the door on release, and are just a nightmare to play.

@1 THats what kills them usually. Look at Warhammer and AOC. Age of Conan had an awesome tutorial and then you go out in to the open real world and its nothing like the tutorial area and it was just a huge giant beta once you walk out the tutorial. Warhammer was just a bug fest from launch.
