Irony is they need to make a sequel to this and make it ”modern” with new engine and gameplay mechanic …

I played the demo and what can i say. It’s not the Duke we all love.
and it’s not about the engine and visuals. It’s just not better then Duke Nukem 3D. It’s complete opposite.

In terms of graphics and loading times it’s much, much, much better then the console version.
but there is no point when you can take only 2 guns wih you and everything feels like you are going in to the one path with ZERO exploration.
It’s not Duke Nukem 3D. It’s not even close to that.

played the leaked full version for 30 mins.
the game starts with the previously shown “pissing scene”.
loading time is ridiculous and the game isn’t what I expected it to be.
Won’t be surprised to see even lower scores.
If that’s how Gearbox wanted to resurrect Duke after all these years … it’d better be left off.

@PsychoPCG
You can’t really blame Gearbox for the game as a whole.
Randy Pitchford from Gearbox already said that the game was more or less already done when they took over production and only needed to tweak some things. If they really wanted to make a Duke game that’s up to the standards of a modern AAA title they would have had to start over (again!). At the point where it was people just wanted to see this game released.

@11
if you think i’m stupid enough to buy a game i have no idea about its quality and get disappointed after the purchase, think twice.
the so called “pirate problem” is like a free demo for me to test the game.
plus, a little respect won’t hurt you.
@13
yeah … that could be the case.

@14
You don’t get any respect. You are the reason why the game industry enforces their DRM. You could have watched vidoes or gotten the demo quite easily no excuses what so ever.
Make whatever excuse you like but all you are doing is attempting to justify why you are stealing a game.

That’s what reviews are for.
Piracy is bad. End of story.

Long-awaited shite turns out to be archaic in it’s development and more embarrassment than homage. Is anyone really surprised?
But it’s ok, Gearbox will still sell plenty as it has boobs in it and they’re marketing the fuck out of it. All is well.

8 sounds about right.
It’s not a modern game, it’s the same game they’ve been showing since 10 years ago, and if you can get past yourself enough to enjoy it for what it is, then it’s really not that bad.
It is hilarious how overproduced it is, though. It actually lets you make microwave popcorn

@19: Translation of the review’s tagline: “The bitter end of a neverending story.” Paradoxical, but probably accurate.

Pitchford already said Gearbox plans to make an actual Duke game this is just Gearbox polishing outdated game.
I will be waiting until Gearbox makes their own Duke.

I love DNF, super fun. On the downside: loading times on ps3 and only 2 weapons!

DNF is also the initials engaved into the watch belonging to Mrs Clennam in Little Dorritt…..coincidence?

Played the game for 2 days on the PS3 and beein a super inteligent guy I allready knew that it would not have todays gfx,gameplay or game design fresh in mind when sitting down with the king again.
And I must say im not dissapointed at all, the humor and the crazy shit that was in Duke Nukem 3D is all there, this is a game for true Duke fans.
I am not done with the game yet but so far it’s a WARM welcome back to the king.

I really like the game, however I’m having serious problems with loading times on the PC, which wasn’t present in the Demo. In one case I waited near enough 10 minutes for a level to load.

I’m roughly 2 hours into the game, but so far I haven’t seen a loading screen that lasted more than seconds.

Looks like Bulletstorm has big chances to get the cake, but in all fairness, Duke deserves at least a slice, lets wait till Serious Sam 3 comes out, then we’ll see who wins for sure and who deserves the cake the most.
I didn’t play DNF yet and reviews don’t matter to me. I, for example enjoyed games like Two Worlds, Hellgate London, Too Human or Fable III whose reviews weren’t great, in fact I love playing those games and if DNF belongs to them I’ll be glad to get the money, go to my local game store, buy the game, get that SoB into my xbox, put on some Motorhead and play till i’m blind. If the game is fun, no matter what loading times and what graphics it has, once again i’ll refer to Motorhead, (taken from the lyrics of Ace of Spades): “…The pleasure is to play, it makes no difference what you say…”, Thank you have a nice day.
