The video’s a gameplay walkthrough basically, which gives you the first proper look at how the game looks and plays. It’s pretty awesome and fans of the series would feel at home after watching it.

I can’t judge this trailer because Xbox 360 version looks like crap.
I mean, better then Oblivion, but not a huge departure.

Show us PC version. Please with all filters and anti aliasings…

also, i don’t like that dragons started to fly everywhere, by the TES lore.. Dragons are rare species and they almost have the power of gods.

Everything else like Physics and battle system looks like an improvement.

@1, for that you need Xbox NEXT. Open World environment with top notch animation? Oh yeah… dream about it. It’s already too much for the hardware.

This game looks decent enough, but the one that Schilings group was doing, looks more interesting to me.

He mentioned that it will be explained in the game. Did you listen to him?

Whatever version was just shown, looks pretty stellar to me. Pretty much just sold me on the game.

@2….what’s “Xbox NEXT”?

Somehow reminds me of Oblivion,ragdolls(when hit with arrows),health/magicka/ gauges look too simplistic.Third person view definitely looks better,weather controlling ability….no thank you!Overall engine looks like modified GameBryo but I do hope that PC version will look better.

Best thing at E3 so far, looks incredible.
Especially when the dragon scooped that giant up.

@5, I get it. But there are too much Dragons in the demo. Too much for one time.

Dragons are almost like the Gods in the TES games. Even if they are teleported somehow from the past, there were not so much of them in the past.
there are a lot of books with the epic dragon battles in Morrowind and Oblivion, but here it’s like: Hmm, Dragon? Pffff.. piece of dirty skin.

PS: ALSO, As always. I was right about Mass effect 2 and Kinect. haha :) :D

@6 future platform. :D

@10

Its a demo and the developers make the demo to capture all aspect they made sure the dragons appear to see the fighting. In the GI they said they will happen sporadically and are dynamic meaning more or less random so not scripted.

Good for you being right about ME3 and kinect but its not the core component its just an added bonus for those that have a kinect its not needed to play the game.

Jeez….you can’t be serious. I suggest you fire up Oblivion, just look at the character models, the environments, the fire effects and so on…come on now.

@Moon, use a PC version and add few mods, and you will see not a huge departure. Really.

This is easily going to be the best game of the year. Forget about La Noire, forget about the Witcher 2, and all the other mediocre crap.

300 hours of sheer awesome. Watch and learn Bioware and Lionhead… watch and learn.

I have to say though, I hope they do something about the HUD in the demo. The text seems far too intrusive.

@2 – Not a massive departure?

Considering they’re both on the 360, i’d consider that a fairly massive departure. Yes the textures in Skyrim could be better, but we’ve only seen 360 shots so far. The textures will look a LOT better on the PC.

All things considered, it looks fucking amazing for an open-world RPG.

But yeah… i’d kind’ve like dragons to be a bit rarer and harder to kill.

Especially at the start of the game, i’d like them to be nearly impossible to kill and for the player to have to run and hide to survive.

@17 For me the texts seemed a bit plain as well.

I can’t wait to play this one. It’s definitely going to keep me hooked like Oblivion.

Bathesda knows how to make exploration and customization for RPG but what they can’t deliver is a story that they always under deliver with that. Not saying its horrible because I own Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3. Bathesda have never delivered with their stories ever. If there was a way for a developer to capture the customization and exploration of Bathesda with the polish and Story of Bioware that would be the closest to the perfect RPG. Plus Bathesda has horrible QA and put out bugfested products which you then have to either mod the game you own or look for mods that fix the game.

Agreed. New Vegas is aeons better than Fallout 3 in terms of everything from writing to atmosphere, but since that’s done by Obsidian, every other quest tends to include a windows prompt that the game “stopped working”.

How can you keep funding a studio that apparently lacks the technical know how to actually make games? :P

#20 – Bethesda do suck at stories, I completely agree… but that’s not what their games are about really. The emphasis is more on the open world as well as all of the side stuff you can do. I played both Morrowind and Oblivion for over 400 hours each, and only a small portion of that time was doing the main questline. I’ve yet to find another RPG that offers that.

Sure, other developers produce RPGs which are much more polished, have much better graphics, and an amazing storyline. But they’re usually very linear, and after 30-50hrs (sometimes even less) you’re done. I don’t want that experience from an RPG. If I wanted a good story, i’d read a book. What I want is a virtual fantasy world to live in as a character of my own choosing.

@UuBuU, thats why i ask for the PC version.

but i don’t like console version much. I just know PC version will be miles better

and yeah, text is a bit of a problem, but thats because of the console interface.

@DSB, seriously, these days i prefer better games even with huge amount of bugs.
Great Example with the Witcher 2. Great game… Full of bugs, not only errors, but technical problems even if i’m playing on the 580 GTX damn it :D

@21

The real question is how in the hell is Obsidian still around. I played Alpha Protocol from beginning to end for a class assignment to write about a game that I have never played and write as if I am a playtester so someone that is just playing it for the fun and telling the developer why its fun or sucks. I played it and by the end I was wondering why the hell I was playing it. The repetition of the mini games and combat just made the game absolutely horrible, then the stealth was completely broken. Obsidian was in development for 5 years?! And they came out with that? Yeesh /rant

@22

Thats great and you understand that Bathesda does different type of RPG than Bioware or Lionhead. SO why tell them to change what has worked for them where you have Bathesda that makes the game you want? More diversiity is a good thing. FOr me that enjoys a good story and RPG I typically go for Bioware and I wouldn’t want them to change their formula just because a few people want an expansive lifeless world.

@23

A few bugs here and there is not an issue no game comes out without bugs but Bathesda level of bugs is like they ignore QA. I have never had so many game breaking bugs than I have with Bathesda and Obsidian.

Dude…you just can’t call LA Noire and Witcher mediocre crap, you just cant.

@24 Yeah, I picked up Alpha Protocol on the last Steam sale, still can’t get into it. On the PC the hacking minigame simply hasn’t been implemented. One box goes in any direction it feels like, since it doesn’t respond to the mouse input like it’s supposed to.

And it hasn’t been patched!

I’m amazed. If it was an indie developer falling victim to his own ambitions, that would be one thing, but a million dollar player with DLC in the pipes, while my game is still crashing without warning? Shit.

Although I guess it is true to the Fallout heritage, considering Fallout 2 :P

@26

Yeah I think with Obsidian since they can’t make a high dollar game they should look into DLC or Arcade games and start there just because they made a great game 10-15 years ago doesn’t mean you can hack it in this day and age.
