BioWare reveals what to expect from SWTOR at E3 next week
BioWare has announced what it plans to show at E3 next week regarding Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Along with a new trailer being shown, which takes players to Belsavis, two in-game plotlines will also be shown. One is a showdown “with an army of zealous soldiers, protecting a military general who has seized control of the throne,” and the other will show off the Sandpeople which E3 attendees will get to battle as well as “experience something that’s never been seen before on Tatooine.”
A tie-in comic book from writer Alexander Freed call Lost Suns was also announced. The comic book focuses on the spy Theron Shan, who is interested in what the Empire has been up to since the Treaty of Coruscant.
BioWare has also updated the page for Advanced Classes in the game. You should check it out here.
EA will be holding its press conference on Monday like everyone else, expect for Nintendo.
Attend our event-long liveblog for all the details, or may the force not be with you, and such.
Thanks, Massively.

@2: What the fuck are you talking about? SWTOR doesn’t look so good that consoles couldn’t handle it.

@3 Seriously?! Graphics are NOT the only issue. A console cannot run this game due to the size alone. Graphics are not always the issue, the overall power needed to run it just isn’t there, not to mention the specs will rise with each expansion. I am a console gamer as well as a PC gamer, but PC > all consoles.

For starter game couldn’t run on xbox duo the Xbox live. And second,How would control, comunication, battle work on a single gamepad?.Again don’t expect any solid MMO on console this gen.

^ It also has the mini board that connects on to the pad. As does the 360, and USB keyboards work on 360 too. The controls argument is honestly a non-issue.

Next you console fanboys will be beggings for Starcraft on consoles. Really. Some genres are superior on the PC, and a few are better on consoles. Deal with it.

^ How many consoles games require a keyboard? They’ll get used more when theres a need for them. Nearly everyone owns a USB keyboard in some form or can buy one for a tenner.

Oh yeah, console fanboys again are in RAGE mode.
If you can connect keyboard to your consoles, that does not mean that it is enough for the MMORPG experience.
Mouse is very important also, who don’t know why it is important is just a fanboy. But thats still not enough.
Great MMORPG experiences require a lot of interface mods. In which 80% of WOW players use these days. On console it’s impossible because it’s a closed platform and just with weak 2.5 SATA AT BEST.
Also, patching MMORPG on consoles is just annoying.
Weak social experience compared to MAC or PC which is a very important part of any great MMORPG.
Best MMORPG for consoles are the types like FF14 or DC Universe Online… i mean CRAPPY ones wich does not have solid mechanics on whatsoever. Actionary pieces of shits. I’m still waiting for FF14 on PS3, i just want to laugh at douches who will buy it for PS3.
I’m sure Planetside Next and Sony’s biggest Everquest title will be introduced for consoles as a final death sentence to Sony Online Entertainment. I want to laugh at this announcements. Can’t wait.

“Great MMORPG experiences require a lot of interface mods.”
Unless the developers simply make a great interface from the start.

@12, thats not enough. WOW interface is perfect, but it’s still not enough for players and especially huge clans.
There are a dozen of clan programs which helps raiding at some point. some people play with Quest Helper and etc.
Consoles can’t have that and it’s important.

But what would stop developers from including whatever the community deems necessary at a later stage? Nothing.

@14, tell that to every MMO developer out there OK? It’s not what they do when they create and support MMO.
Sony Online entertainment already showed us how MMORPG is possible on the PS3. Great experience.. i mean not.

@16 Reason why are now arguing is because @1 said why is this not on Console? Well how many bugs, glitchs, problems…have ONLY ON PC and if they want to ported to PS3 who knows how much time would that take….This is most ambitious MMO now and its taking too long to develop just for PC…

no offense but dc on-line is proof that consoles can’t handle an mmo. champions on line drives dc on-line into the ground game play wise. Even an old mmo city of heroes has better game play than dc on-line. If they are investing that much money into a mmo it might as be the pc.
also another fact dc on-line is almost dead.

You must be new. They’re the worst kind of fanboy, the most zealous you can find.

I think the hardest thing for consoles to handle “processing wise” would be the cities. They’re is just so much going on, even the best PC’s can sometimes struggle with what’s going on. I just don’t see how a console could cope with that. I haven’t played it myself, but did DC Universe Online have massive cities like WoW etc?

You guys argue about the most stupidest things. One guy says “I would love this on consoles” then you guys turn this into “COULD it work on Consoles and rage about features on respective platforms”.

I don’t see how it’s stupid to have a discussion about whether MMO’s can work on consoles or not. There’s a reason why Blizzard haven’t made WoW on console’s, even though they have thought about it alot.
Just because there is a few people on this website who take things to another level, doesn’t mean all PC gamers are like that. I really hate it when PC gamers are given this rep of being elitist and have this hate towards console’s. Not all of us are like that.

The way I see it is simple. Without the PC, there would not be any console gaming. Why? The PC is used to develop assets for console games.
On topic, many people have started to lose interest in SWTOR. They clearly announced too early and discovered that there was alot more work involved in cloning WoW then they thought.
Despite Bioware stating 2011 is still the release date, it will more like be 2012, which is an awful long wait for something that is starting to look very generic.
Such a shame, as I did have high hopes for this but all the PR bullshit by essentially renaming things like ‘dungeons’ to ‘flashpoints’ and ‘warfronts’ to ‘warzones’ is annoying. It’s Star Wars but without the actual war.
The given fact that are scared of any kind of open world pvp – Bounty Hunters, who dont actually have any bounties to hunt. /sigh

Naaa. I think we will see another amazing trailer at E3 and everyone will be all pumped up again.
