Leaked GameStop document rumors possible release dates for MGS: Rising, Tomb Raider, more
A reported, and rumored internal document from GameStop store has been leaked onto the net, and it shows anticipated in-store dates for some rather large, as of yet undated titles.

The listings for May and June, posted through here, show dates that are already known, and bar some unforeseen calamity or publisher hissy fit, the dates are accurate. So, we’ll leave those well enough alone, but we should note that its is pleasing to know that Record of Agarest War Zero Limited Edition will be hitting on June 15.
However, October is where things start to get a bit juicy on the game release listings. As usual though, none of this is confirmed so take it as unconfirmed for the time being.
Here’s what we found interesting whether accurate or not:
- Dead Rising 2: Off The Record – October 31
- Aliens: Colonial Marines – November 12
- Tomb Raider – December 13
- Spider-Man: Edge of Time – December 31
The source of the document claimed that Square Enix confirmed the Tomb Raider date with GameStop over on the Tomb Raider forums.
Going into 2012, things get a bit vague, as the listing show Prototype 2 listed for a December 31, 2012 release, as well as Metal Gear Solid: Rising for November 12, 2012. Both titles are slated for release that year, so that much is accurate, but the PT2 date looks a bit off. The listing also has Final Fantasy XIII-2 down for a January 1 release.
Like we said, take these dates with a bit of skepticism, especially that Colonial Marines listing – unless of course Gearbox has some sort of surprise planned for the world at E3 next month.

December 31st for Spidey seems rather unlikely.
Edit: Most of these are Mondays and Saturdays too, which makes me suspect they’re all just store-created estimates.

Thats a ridiculously long amount of time for Rising, did Konami really need to reveal the game nearly 4 years before its release?

Every time someone says “GameStop”, I always think “Hammer time!”

@3, “did Konami really need to reveal the games nearly 4 years before its release?”
No. But Microsoft? Absolutely. Rising is the biggest F. to Sony from Microsoft

@8,
Thats awesome btw.
But average casual 360 fan does not care about the quality. MGS:Rising is just a marketing tool for Microsoft.

From the interview that @8 posted:
“So it is natural that the PS3 version is better than the other two versions”
The other two versions? So PC owners get the shaft as well then presumably?

I have to say from working in a game shop in england, we have these sorts of dates all the time but it’s not the dates we give to customers because they are not confirmed and most of the time are completly wrong. Most games come out on fridays in the uk and the dates we get are usually all over the place. I’d guess this is the same thing here, just rough estimates.

it’s not an internal document that upcoming release list is on display for all customers. at the store i work at anyway! they set those dates so they can start taking preorders battlefield 3 is listed as 2012 as well.

Those documents are printed through the registers upcoming release list, and are in no way confirmations of anything.
Many games on that list have placeholder dates that are nothing more than guesses.
I’ve seen these make the news multiple times, and they are not accurate for the games you guys always like to date with them, ever.

Yeah come on dude why are you even posting this? I got a print out from GameStop that had that Aliens: Colonial Marines date on it, it’s not “leaked” info, and the December 31st for Spider Man just means that it will release by the end of the year…Dead Rising 2: Off the Record has also had the Halloween release date up on GameFly for WEEKS now…the Tomb Raider date however is something new that I have not seen before, maybe because the GameStop document I was given after a purchase was before the announcement of Tomb Raider…actually here is the exact date I received it March 15th after purchasing Homefront
For example, here is more information: Forza 4 – September 2nd 2011, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning – February 2nd 2012, Armored Core V – January 4th 2012, BioShock Infinite – February 2nd 2012, Anarchy Reigns November 9th 2011, Lord of the Rings: War in the North – August 2nd 2012, Same dates of MGS: Rising and Aliens, Silent Hill Downpour – October 2nd 2011, Spec Ops The Line August 3rd 2011, And actually yup here’s Tomb Raider with the December 13th 2011 release date with NEW in capitals next to it, and the Prototype 2 date actually says March 31st 2012, Same June 15th date for Record of Agarest War Zero which has also had the same date on GameFly once again, for a while…
So yeah this isn’t “leaked” documents, they were handing these documents out to people interested in pre-ordering games, and for the most part is likely speculation or generalizations from info received from publishers.

Tomb Raider a 2011 game? Highly doubt that.

The longer that MGS game takes, the better… I don’t want a perfect cannonical saga ruined.
