Friday, 13th May 2011 14:54 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Konami’s formally announced the first details and released the first video for Pro Evolution Soccer 2012, as planned. The video features producer Shingo “Seabass” Takatsuka detailing many of the aspects and features for this year’s game. Get it below the break.

The game will include an all-new AI engine, so that teammates can help you out in one-on-one situations, with zonal marking being “massively enhanced,” and a new cursor switching system. Konami says with all of this and more, PES 2012 “truly captures the essence of top-flight football.”

The Champions League and Europa League will once again be in the game.

PES 2012 launches this autumn for PS3, 360, Wii, PC, PSP and PS2. Screens and video are all below.

I’m sure Seabass had blonde hair at one point.

Team-mates making runs is better, but there will still be times where they don’t. We need L1/LB to force a run, like in FIFA.

The only other issue is defender catch-up. This is blatant cheating and if it’s still in there then I won’t be buying.

konami just doesnt get it imo, why have an announcement video with just very brief clips which dont look much of an improvement and the rest of it the guy just talking. look at the starhawk announcement video, five minutes of interviews and plenty of gameplay clips.

    they just dont fucking learn

I thought it was a pretty good featurette.

I’m glad they will be addressing off the ball running because that is one of the things that still pisses me off. I constantly have to use the ‘R2 just after passing’ mechanic to get people to run forward otherwise people just remain so static. so annoying when you counter attack and there is just no one supporting or helping you out.

Brief enactment of a typical development day at the PES studio:

Seabass: Come on… there it is… just a little more… GOOAAAALL!!! Take that Mizuhiro! Unbeaten for ten matches now, bitches. Thank you, thank you. *bows*

Voice from the back: That FIFA is one hell of a game, eh Seabass?

Seabass: Way better than we could ever manage! [throws pad] Eh you! Wake the fuck up and get some more beer!

Another voice from the back: What about the progress report we’re supposed to submit today, sir?

    [eery silence]

Seabass: Write something up. “New AI System”, “improved lighting”, etc. You know, the usual shit. Once you’re done, get yourself transferred to another studio. We have no use for “do work” types like you here.

    :D
