Thursday, 12th May 2011 08:08 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Nintendo’s confirmed that its delayed the launch of the first main firmware update for 3DS, which will see the addition of the eShop.

The update, which Nintendo confirmed back at GDC will arrive in “late May”, will now arrive on June 6 in the US and June 7 in Japan and Europe (via EG), the same day of Nintendo’s E3 press conference.

Nintendo’s Europe hasn’t updated its website at the time of publication to confirm when it’ll will launch here.

The firmware will, as well as eShop, also include the internet browser.

Thanks, Joystiq.

You know, I’m starting to think that maybe they should’ve held the 3DS back until Christmas.

I wholeheartedly agree. They should start with parasites like you. You have no class quite simply and the community would be better off without your dunderheaded witless trolling you gaping axe wound.

Hm. I wouldn’t be surprised if they found some massive backdoor in their security that would allow one to share games bought on the store. With Nintendo’s previous security I wouldn’t be surprised.

Hmmm… This almost makes me think they may announce something else new in the firmware update during their conference; kinda like how Sony launched the Playstation video store right after after their talk.
