RIFT developer Trion worlds has made no secret it’s working on several new projects, including a collaborative MMO effort with the Syfy Channel – it’s was named today as Defiance.

Defiance is described by the folks at Syfy as a “new entertainment franchise that will seamlessly pair a primetime series with an online video game,” and while other details are sketchy, it’s planned for a launch later this year.

The folks over at Massively speculate that the MMO could also end up being for Xbox 360 based on Trion’s recent hires, and note that the game’s been in development for several years.

There’s no date as yet.
