Grasshopper Manufacture memorialises quake victims with free music release
Goichi Suda’s studio Grasshopper Manufacture has released a trio of songs for free download to honour victims of Japan’s ongoing state of emergency.

Lauded Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka is responsible for two of the tracks – Otomodachi, as you wake and Otomodachi, before you sleep.
Colleague Tak Hiraoka penned a third track, Otomodachi, in the afternoon.
All three tracks are available absolutely free for download or streaming via the studio’s Facebook band page.
Thanks, Joystiq.

Why not charge for the music, and put the money gained to a related charity? Free music is nice, but not very helpful.

Nice thought Geki, but the proceeds from a bit of game music would do fuck all either way.
If you raise 10k then 5 are going to be lost to administration anyway, if not more. And 5k is maybe half of a cadaver dog.
Short of massive international government donations, they’re shit out of luck. At least Grasshopper aren’t kidding anyone.

why the hell would you want to charge for something if you are doing it to help people!?
i seriously hate it when people want to help someone buy demand something back. If you demand something back therefore you are not helping out of your heart! You are basically helping yourself!
It’s like money! All humans were created equally to share and live happy. Until the white man (:P) created money and that transformed people to exchange prosperity with money. You want love? you have to exchange with money. You want food? you have to exchange with money.
you want help? you have to exchange with money!
I happy Grasshopper is doing this for free because it shows his compassion and feelings. If he’s charging money for it then he’s doing this for fame and advantage to himself.

Before there was money, there was the trading of things. Before trading there was only fight, kill and take. There was never something like take for free in beofre, exluding samaritians and the modern erea.
