Gemini Rue demo available for download

Gamefront, those crazy fellas previously known as FileFront, have an exclusive demo of point-and-click adventure game, Gemini Rue, up for grabs on the site.

In the game, developers Wadjet Eye put you in the shoes of Azriel Odin, an ex-assassin who arrives on the “rain-drenched planet of Barracus to find someone.”

Apparently, things don’t go as planned – as storylines in game are wont – and Odin must seek out other criminals he worked with to help him out.

However, over yonder in another galaxy, a fella by the name of Delta-Six wakes up in a hospital with no memory, and while not knowing where to go or whom to trust, vows to escape “before he loses his identity completely.”

“As fate brings these two men closer together, we discover a world where life is cheap, identities are bought and sold, and a simple quest for redemption can change the fate of a whole galaxy.”

Sounds awesome to us.

Download the demo here.

Gemini Rue, the Independent Game Festival Student Showcase winner in 2010 under the name Boryokudan Rue, will be made available on February 24 digitally and through a limited edition CD version. The download costs $14.99 and the limited edition CD, which will only be sold during the pre-order period, costs $24.99 and includes free shipping worldwide.

The CD ships in March, and includes the game, an MP3 soundtrack, and free access to the downloadable version when Gemini Rue launches online.

Thanks, Mike.

I very, very highly recommend Wadjet Eyes games.

The Shivah through the Blackwell games. Top notch the whole way through. The last two Blackwell games try to be more accessible, making them a bit of a lite choice compared to classic adventures, but it’s still money very well spent as far as I’m concerned.

Gemini Rue isn’t Gilberts game as far as I know, but it looks good. I’ve been considering a first day purchase based on the other games I’ve gotten from there.

Already pre-ordered the limited edition CD-version. I love these adventure games, and I’m pretty sure Gemini Rue will be pretty good (partly because I trust Wadjet Eye Games as their own games have been great so far).

Wow, i was kinda shocked by the graphics. But i guess they did that on purpose?

I’m gonna go ahead and guess that you haven’t played a lot of adventure games :P

Yeah, that’s a nod to how they’ve looked throughout the nineties. As someone who played most of those games I find it kind of comforting. You can make better looking games today with ease, but it tends to make them a bit uncanny.

I’m playing The Whispered World at the moment, gorgeous cartoon graphics. That really works too.

Haven’t taken a look at Gemini Rue yet, but surprisingly, the Blackwell games and The Shivah actually have totally passable voice acting, even though it’s purely homebrew indie.
