EEDAR: 360, Wii big winners in December NPD

According to a note sent out by EEDAR, Xbox 360 and Wii were the big winners in December in the US.
Year-over-year, Wii and 360 saw big gains which seen PS3 come lagging behind in a distant third.
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter said yesterday that 360 outsold PS3 by a ratio of 2-1 in the December NPD.
EEDAR’s numbers are below.
- DS – 2,400,000
- Wii – 2,200,000
- 360 – 1,900,000
- PS3 – 1,100,000
- PS2 – N/A
- PSP – 5,00,000
- Industry – 8,100,000
The December NPD releases on Thursday.
NPD decided to start withholding hardware sales numbers for the American market last year, leaving it up to platform holders to decide whether or not to make monthly figures public.
Thanks, CVG.

“As the NPD Group prepares its monthly sales report, analysts from Wedbush and EEDAR released the following console sales estimates for December 2010”
it’s an estimatation not actual number..

@3
PS3 bigger in Europe is just a silly myth. I live in the Netherlands and when I work electronic the we sold twice the amount of 360′s compared to PS3′s.
When i look at all my gamer friend we all own 360′s as the primary console, some have PS3.
I have both console, but I prefer the 360, my opinion.

^ Numbers are more important then personal experience. For example, in France in 2010 PS3 sold 50% more then 360.
And last Xmas, whilst the 360 sold more in the US, on a global scale the PS3 outsold it.

PS3 is ‘generally’ bigger in Europe, but there are a few countries which are exceptions to the rule – like the UK, for instance. Take a look at Spain, though – 360 may as well not even exist over there.
Interesting to see the difference between Pachter’s and EEDAR’s predictions. Wonder who’ll be closest to the truth?
