What might have been! Concept artist Charlie Wen went through several designs before settling on God of War’s distinctive protagonist, as revealed by a stash of concept art.

Rejected designs include a masked Kratos with what looks like dreadlocks, and a heavily-armoured type with an almost medieval take on a classical helmet.

Siliconera unearthed the artworks on Wen’s blog, along with various treatments of Ares and Medusa.

In one of the first 2 games there was a bonus feature where you entered an arena and could see alternative designs in full render of Kratos and other game characters and creatures.
