Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit gameplay videos show duelling, busting

There’d have to be something wrong with your brain to not want to play this.
Gamespot’s capture two gameplay movies from the PS3 version of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, showing off the Criterion smash-racers cops ‘n’ robbers stylings.
There’s stuff here as people playing as both the police and the “other lot”. It looks amazing.
The game’s now-defunct demo was downloaded 2 million times and played host to more than 20 million busts.
The game releases in the US today, with a launch in Europe at the end of this week.

Really looking forward to this, but there’s two things I immediately don’t like about it.
1/ I can understand why they did it, but that rear view mirror is fugly imo. I’d almost rather do without and have some kind of HUD indicator like the old Race Driver games instead.
2/ Bottom left – that weapon indicator/d-pad gui element is HORRIBLE. totally not in keeping with the rest of the interface.
That said – I loved the demo, Autolog will be worth the admission price alone for those of us who don’t get to go online as much as we used to.

I loved it, but did anyone else find the handling to be a little laggy?
