Enslaved demo now up on Live

Namco’s sent over word the demo for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is now available on Xbox Live.
We just checked to see if the demo is up on Marketplace, but isn’t there yet.
Ho hum silver. It should be up shortly.
The demo’s been available from the EU PS Store as of last week, and the US PS Store as of this week.
The demo, in case you haven’t played it on PS3 yet, is the first chapter of the game, where main character Monkey escapes from a slave ship.
Ninja Theory’s Enslaved, a modern take of the Chinese tale Journey to the West, releases on October 8 in the UK on PS3 and 360.

its not up yet, tried the ps3 demo and loved it, all these games being released first few days of october is silly, fifa, pes, enslaved and castlevania, you would think marketing learned something after the may incident with red dead, split second and alan wake

Tried the PS3 demo and although I liked the artwork, setting, cutscenes and to a certain extent the level design and combat, the engine clearly isnt up to the job.
It was jerky, teary and grainy and somewhat spoiled the experience. I’d expect the 360 version to perform better as nearly all Unreal engine games do.
If it does perform better then I’ll probably buy, but not until it hits the £20 mark. I still have loads of XBLA summer or arcade goodness to get through, and Halo is dominating my time right now..

i hope this does well in sales, same with castlevania. it worrys me a little when i see games of my personal taste not doing as well as they should. i dont want everything to be first person shooters in the future.

It would be crazy though if the 360 version performs better, cause the PS3 was the lead platform for this, right? Either way i’m going for the 360 version anyway, cause i like to talk with friends and such, and i simply prefer my 360.

@16 Agreed. There’s a pretty blatant effort to argue a disparity between versions – even though one version doesn’t appear to be available to most people yet.
The game certainly looks pretty to me. I’ve yet to nab the demo but it’s on my list. Never played anything buy these guys before though.

“dont start all this my console is better than yours shit again, no need for it at all”
Well in this case it would be ‘my console is better than mine’ as I have both, for the time being anyway.
Anyway, I mentioned nothing about one console being better than the other. I said chances are that Enslaved will perform better on the 360 as nearly all multiplats perform better on the 360, and Unreal engine has a proven history of performing better on the 360.

@21 Yeah. Um. You know you’re only affirming people’s statements with comments like that. Referencing unrelated PS3 exclusives in another Enslaved article just so you can criticise them doesn’t really work in your favour either.
Which is fine – assuming that’s the image you were aiming to portray.

Did i say that? Cause if i did…DO show me. I have a PS3 , but does that mean all my friends have one too? No it doesn’t. And in this case, nope! I don’t know about this, but is chatting while playing a game possible on PS3 now?
I wasn’t intending to start a console war at all, hell..if i can’t even say ‘I’ll buy it for my 360 because i can chat with all my friends’ nowadays..sigh.

I agree with #21
I am a PS3 player but i know some multiplats run better on my 360. This is usually the case with games designed using the UE3 (with the exception of Transformers War for Cybertron).
Edit: But, with that being said. I could care less if this game ran better on the 360. They can have these ugly and outdated graphics. I am disapointed in Ninja Theory with how shabby this thing looks. I tried the PS3 demo and it ran about how i would expect the 360 version would run but with the 360 having slightly less screen tearing but thats about it. Either way, this game is definitely not on my day1 buy list. Maybe when it drops to half price i will consider buying it (after i see it in REAL action).

I think you are being a bit oversensitive here.
“Referencing unrelated PS3 exclusives in another Enslaved article just so you can criticise them doesn’t really work in your favour either.”
Well taking comments from a completely unrelated subject, the subject of movie/game crossover, really doesnt work in your favour. Once again, I made no reference to the console.
These are simply the most prominent cases of game directors that wish they were movie directors instead, a growing and worrying trend in the games industry. The platform these games are on is irrlevant.
I believe you are reading intent into, and making connections between two posts when none is there.

Please dont feed Gadzooks, hes just a troll. Apart from Bayonetta and the orange box all PS3 games look the same as the 360, unless youre a sad cunt who uses special tech to see the difference between the two then there is no difference to the naked eye. Its just a fanboy statement thats been taken as fact over the years.

@29 You made no references to the console but, hey, the only games you manage to reference just so magically happen to be exclusive to the console you always drag into neutral topics to hit with a big stick. But your posts all run along the same theme: if someone isn’t bashing the PS3 for some reasone then you’ll bring that element into the conversation whether it’s called for or not. You did it there, you did it here, you do it all over the shop.
And I distinctly recall you lashing out at me simply because I dared to express my expectations of a flagship 360 franchise rather than unquestioningly fawn over it – labelling me as an ignorant hater that had never even played the games in the franchise.
Ain’t no smoke without fire, bub.
Which, like I say, is fine – if that’s the sort of image you want to portray. Assuming it is, then you should have no problem with the sort of reception your comments receive.
Now, I’m going to play the demo ONLY on one machine and then go around saying it’s the better of the two.

what an idiot, u want to bu it for the 360 because u can chat with your friend? lol. The whole point of single player games is to be immersed in the world and not be distracted by anyone! why the fk would u want to be chatting while playing it?!! see now party chat has fucked up the whole essence of what single player gaming is about.

@35 You are a complete failure.
Its the exact same experience. Screen Tearing is almost the same (a hint better on 360, but a small hint) the framerate still suffers here and there and the graphics are identical.

Christ this stuff gets old fast – apart from 38 – top quote.
The damn thing looks a wee bit better on 360 due to Unreal engine. The damn thing also manages to look worse, in general, than Heavenly Sword did years ago and most good exclusives these days.
In short, it shows, at least from the demo, the usual issues a new developer to Unreal tech shows – think the fairly weak use of Unreal in Mass Effect (true I’m afraid) vs the much better use of Unreal in Mass Effect 2.
Still, I guess this helped them go from an exclusive engine for PS3 to something multi-plat.
It also shows the usual rough corners around responsive movement, optimization and consistent frame rate I’d also expect for a first multiplatform title.
Story looks okay, usual jungle ruins in America stuff, combat is okay, platforming (from the demo) is damn weak, and set-pieces seem mixed but fairly fun.
In short, it’s no Uncharted 2 based on the demo – or even Uncharted for that matter – but it looks promising assuming the full game contains better variety and balance and the story actually holds water.
Either way I’m waiting for reviews and more online feedback before I go anywhere near a full price purchase on this decent but far from exceptional title (again, based on the demo).

Yeah, i actually like to be in a party with friends, and i can STILL be immersed in the story, strange ain’t it? Now that i see people comparing both versions.
The 360 version is the clear winner, and i don’t care if people disagree with me. This is simply how i see it.
The 360 demo has practically no aliasing,no tearing,no framedrops, and looks more crisp. I don’t understand that though, since PS3 is leadplatform, right? I can go on and on about this, but it’s quite obvious when you play both versions. A friend of mine said the exact same thing, he said it’s more smooth, no tearing at all and what not. It is what it is.
Apparently Heavenly Sword suffered from Aliasing and framedrops as well. I only heard that from a friend, so don’t blame me if i’m wrong.

What’s with the bias over 360 here?I too spend much more time with my 360 than ps3 but people need to cool down a little bit.
@45 What are you on to please tell us?from your comments i can only assume that either you’re out of rehab or you’re still breastfeeding
@46 Troll much?Clear winner is when there are hell of a lot differences and apparently as people say from both demos and as i’ve seen both of them there aren’t.Ps3 isn’t the lead platform for this.Actually NT never specified nor gave a clear answer and judging from their past comments on developing Heavenly Sword was pain in the ass we can easily assume the lead platform is the 360 here and they ported it on to ps3
anyhow the game isn’t something to go crazy about after all.People need to chill out

I agree with you bro, I just finish playing both demos and the only difference I could tell were the colors. Sorry Moonwalker the same issues that in the PS3 demo are in the 360. But thank you for letting me know you didn’t play both demos.
But hey, I’m sick of arguing with these immature children about what version is better than the other. Half of these fucking idiots don’t even own a PS3, let alone both consoles. So you have take comments like MoonWalkers’ with a grain of salt. So don’t even waste your time with these delusional fools arguing about pixels and frames.
