First Enslaved DLC features Pigsy

Thursday, 23rd September 2010 13:57 GMT By Johnny Cullen

Namco Bandai’s announced the first piece of DLC for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.

Not a lot of details have been revealed, but it will feature side-character Pigsy.

The DLC will obviously need the full game itself to play the side-story, which will be separate of the main story of Monkey and Trip.

No date yet, but more details will arrive in “the coming months.”

Ninja Theory’s Enslaved releases on October 8 in the UK for PS3 and 360.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Surely a better strategy would be timed free DLC with a big fat countdown on the Main menu. that way people have an incentive to hang on to the game for a few months instead of part exchanging after two weeks.

Plus free DLC would be good pre launch marketing

@1 We sent the questions out to Namco to be answered by Ninja Theory a couple of weeks back.

It’s just taking a bit longer then we thought.

But I was on the phone to Namco about it this morning. We should have the answers for you by next week anyways.

    Sorry about the wait.

@ mington – that’s a really good idea. I usually play a game to death within the first few weeks then sell it on, whilst its still worth a few quid. There are exceptions to that rule (such a L4D2) but none the less…

I’ve solved the riddle of DLC

Chargeable DLC is released very shortly after the games release date. To coincide with the average completion date of said title. I’d guess about two weeks for Enslaved. This way people don’t get fucked off about day 1 DLC which should have been included on the disc if it was already finished.

So people can purchase the DLC upon completing the game 2 weeks after release and continue playing if they so wish. This very same piece of DLC is made free to all for one weekend 3 months after release. Make this blatantly clear to everyone with a big fat countdown on the Main menu. That way people have an incentive to hang on to the game for a few months instead of part exchanging after two weeks.

Then after the 3 months and the free weekend is over, release the 2nd pack of DLC with the exact same strategy.

I believe the people who are willing to lay down money for extra content wouldn’t care about waiting for a couple of months until it becomes free.

Also retailers wont have to discount the game 3 months after release as there would be a surge in sales upon the eve of the free weekends.

    Boom everyones happy

@mington: Good strategy that was very similar to Splinter Cell: Conviction. I just want all the various pre-order bonuses (constumes) availalbe as DLC in the future. I hope they are pushed through in an update but I seriously doubt as much. Anyway, the demo was a bag full of awesome and that confirms by preemptive pre-order.

Well what about DLC that shows up on Xbox Live before the Game is even out, Like Lost Planet 2 and now Dead Rising 2?
