New Sonic 4 footage released

Is it me or have they changed the Sonic sprite? It looks… well… better.

Played this as E3, and wasn’t even remotely impressed. It didn’t play or feel like a Sonic game. But it’s still not finished, so there’s still some hope.

I hate the modern representations of Sonic. He hasn’t look like Sonic since the old 2D games. Kind of a problem.

The hair’s too long, legs too long and his face is too small.

Dude, this looks just as fantastic as the last trailer I saw. Can’t wait for this game!

@1 – i keep hearing people say that. I admit watching vids of this game it does seem iffy for lack of a better word. Theres just something not right about it but for a game like sonic that ‘something’ being off can kill the feel of it.

I respectfully have to disagree #4. I too grew up with Sonic 1, 2, and 3 on Genesis and I honestly don’t understand what people are not liking about this? It looks like Sonic 2D in HD, it sounds like Sonic, obvioulsy i can’t say how it plays, but I’m trusting they wouldn’t fuck up a directive as simple as “keep the original gameplay style intact, but re-vamp the visuals”. Only time will tell.

Oh how that choral ‘SEGA’ branding takes me back. I remember hearing that for the first time coming out of the tiny speaker on my Game Gear. I remember being overwhelmed that it was the first realistic voices I had heard on any of my games consoles. Oh how far we’ve come.

Trust me, they’ve already fucked it up. The classic Sonic feel of gameplay isn’t there at all. It doesn’t feel like the older Sonic games in the slightest.

Obviously, you’ve only got my word to go on here, but I trust when you play the demo you’ll understand what I mean. People are in for a major disappointment with this.

Good input Michael, although I think the graphics look great, not horrible by any means. Hopefully they’ll fix the controls before the demo, if not launch. Oh, and I DEFINILTEY don’t like this episode bullshit.

@9 Trust me, I wanted this to be good more than anyone, and I was cautiously optimistic when I saw the initial reveal while everyone else was damning it. But as as soon as I had it in my hands… ugh.

what’s wrong with the visuals? they probably used textured quads instead of doing it in 2d (I can only judge by the videos though), obviously there’re going to be some subtle changes..

the gameplay looks solid to me as well, maybe the demo was lame?

I seriously don’t get what problem people have with this?

Honestly, you would think that we were better off with Shadow The Hedgehog or Sonic Unleashed.
