Space combat confirmed for SWTOR

BioWare has confirmed space combat for Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Not too much of a shocker, but still nice news.

“If you’ve been following the news coming out of the Star Wars: The Old Republic panel at Comic-Con International, you’ve heard the announcement that we will indeed have Space Combat as part of the TOR experience,” wrote community manager Sean Dahlberg on the official forums.

“Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various hot spots on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars space battles.”

Dahlberg said more on space combat will be revealed in the next issue of PC Gamer, which is expected to hit newsstands on August 17.

SWTOR is expected sometime next spring.

I hope you can whack the visuals down a bunch. My laptop can run Half Life 2 no problem, but I’d imagine it would struggle to run SWTOR on mid-settings.

If you’re gonna limit your market to the PC crowd, at least allow a variety of user to experience the game.

“wait……you can put a graphics card in a laptop?!? really?!?” no, not exactly. at least not a good one anyway. but this should run fine on a laptop as well. I have a mobile 9600gt and I run bfbc2 like a breeze. so I guess I’ll be able to run SWTOR too.
