Sony has announced select PlayStation Plus members can now preview Hulu Plus.

Starting today, a select group of PlayStation Plus subscribers will gain access to a preview version of Hulu Plus for an additional $9.99 per month.

All PlayStation Plus subscribers may download the free Hulu Plus application and, within it, request an invitation to the exclusive preview.

“We are delighted to offer the Hulu Plus preview starting today on PlayStation 3 and that PlayStation 3 will be the only console to offer Hulu Plus in 2010,” said SECA president and CEO Jack Tretton in a statement.

“The combination of Hulu’s premium video library and PlayStation Network’s expanding game and video catalog further cements PlayStation 3 as the industry’s best entertainment device for all of your content experiences from games, TV shows and movies to live sports, original content and 3D.”

Hulu Plus will deliver a library of content including full seasons of TV shows and movies from nearly 150 content companies, which is in addition the 23,000 movies and TV episodes already available on through the PS Store.

A consumer release of Hulu Plus will be made available to all PS3 owners in the coming months.

Why select? surely the rest of the people people who pay for the PSN+ service should be allowed it too?

I think its select because its sort of a beta. So they don’t particularly want everyone on board just yet.

@2

but surely people who paid for the service regardless of how long they are subscribed for deserve the right to use this service

Well they will when its fully available. Then anyone, PS+ subscribers or standard PSN users will get to use it. All I can think of similar to this is the Xbox 360 dashboard upgrade. Only select Gold member users got into the preview but it launched weeks later for everyone.

Do your FREAKING Homework:

THIS IS NOT FREE…..You must pay $9.99 a month to access Hulu Plus, while regular Hulu is still free! Insiders are saying Hulu Plus is overpriced considering that you can watch the things they have on Hulu Plus for free on other services.

How special you must be to get a private only beta invitation to pay $9.99 a month….if you pay Hulu Plus $9.99 a month for free TV shows, then your the IDIOTS shelling out money for PSN Plus as well. Hey I have Free money for ya…Enroll in 5 years in the Army and go to Afghanistan and be Cannon Fodder and after you come home DEAD in a Box…Big old Uncle Sam will pay for college…ROFL…IDIOTS…

Frostquake, I downloaded the free app, didn’t sign up for hulu plus at all yet there are some full episodes, clips, and even a full length movie in the preview section (18 in total). Some even in HD. It’s also really snappy, way better than the netflix disk in that respect. The free preview should provide enough for prospective buyers to get a taste. I won’t pay $9.99 for the full version though but I’m sure this is exactly what some people needed.
