BioWare: Dragon Age more “globally successful” than Mass Effect

BioWare’s Rob Bartel has told MCV Dragon Age has become the most successful series the studio has ever made.
Yes, more so than Mass Effect.
In fact, it has become more popular than Knights of the Old Republic, Baldur’s Gate and Jade Empire.
“Dragon Age was an extremely successful title for us – last November it was the single most globally successful title we’ve put out to date,” Bartel said at EA’s European showcase back in May.
“This is one of our two primary IPs in the Edmonton studio in Canada, and then we’re working on the Old Republic down in Austin [Texas].
“So Dragon Age is a very big part of what we do and for what the future for BioWare will hold for sure.”
Bartel’s published comments coincide with BioWare lifting the wraps off Dragon Age 2, with a massive blowout on information as well as first pieces of art.
The first trailer will be shown during EA’s press conference at gamescom on August 17.
No date yet, but it will be coming to PS3, 360, PC and handhelds.
February 2011 sounds like a good guess, mind.

He said it was their most successful launch last November, so does that mean Mass Effect 2 has since eclipsed it? IIRC ME2 sold 2 million units at launch, which is pretty big…

No way is it boring. It’s a challenging RPG. Maybe not as good on the console versions. But the PC version is immensely deep and the combat is pretty tough.
@6 The Playstation 3 version must have made a huge difference then.

the best rpg are the pc versions by far. The games are only found on the pc. It’s shame that Microsoft and Sony wants to destroy pc gaming.

It’s on PS3, 360 and PC, it’s pretty obvious that unless it was a disaster it was going to sell more than Mass Effect (1 or 2).
Simply confirms that if you want the most sales you go multi-platform.
Now, if they put ME on PS3 then i’d be interested to see how things panned out sales wise.

DUH jackasses release Mass Effect for PS3 and then lets see. I’m really trying to hold out not to play the 360 versions man cause I want the trophies to count you know. DAMN but everyday I’m tempted to go out and buy Mass effect for 360.
Bio-ware make the PS3 ports PLEEEEEEEEEEEEASE! for the love of all gamers fuck M$, fuck the legal shit, just do it for PS3 owners please

The problem Mass Effect is PC port, Dragon Age have PC version too but also have PS3 version. Mass Effect 1 sold better than Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why? Because PC port ME1 realized later.

The real test to see if its successful is when the sequel come, to see if those that bought the first will buy the second.
