“Legendary” game dev to reveal “top-secret new project” on Friday

q mark

So. E3? Sound’s like it’s going to be alright. Especially with the inclusion of a “top-secret new project” from a “legendary” game developer.

The reveal of this said secret project is set to take place tomorrow night in the US on the pre-E3 special of GameTrailers TV.

“And don’t miss a shocking surprise when one of the most legendary names in gaming unveils his top-secret new project for the first time,” says a deep voiceover in a promo for the episode, which you can watch below.

Watch from 40 seconds in.

Who’s secret project could it be? Nobody knows, but it’s about time we seen something from a certain Mr. Levine, don’t you think?

I thought for a moment that the developpers of the game entitled Legendary (graded 01/20 almost everywhere) were behind that game….

what a relief :P

@2 Me too. I was trying to come up with clever puns about it. Oh well, I’ll save them for another day.

I kinda wish it would be Richard Garriot announcing Tabula Rasa 2, or a new Ultima game in which NCsoft and EA aren’t involved.

Or Blizzard making List Vikings Worlds
Or Obsidian announcing they will test games before release
Or Valve announcing that Team Fortress 2 is getting persistent worlds and character level progression.

“Could the “legendary” developer be Bungie per chance?”

Apparently, I missed the little snippet where an individual developer rather than a whole team is mentioned, so I’ll change my uneducated guess to Peter Molyneux.

Will Wright is also a candidate, as Syrok says.

If it’s not being saved a few more days til someone’s E3 conference, it’s probably not worth the wait.

I’ve just had a nose about on the careers page of Irrational games, all i can deduce is they’re working on a fps with multiplayer

This could be *anyone* hyping their own product. Interesting to see what this is nonetheless though.

Why be just one of 20 games revealed at E3, when you can reveal a few days earlier when everyones hyped and salivating for any snippet of gaming news

i’ve noticed a load of arcade titles are revealing and releasing info early as they’ed just get lost in all the big game news.

Stuff like that zombie PS3 game and that 4player 2D moon platformer thing, and the new shank trailer, they’re all on allgamesbeta.info

I think its Levine he hinted his project would be revealed this year whilst the others have said nothing.

Give me Ed Boon and Mortal Kombat 9.

But seriously, it may be Itagaki’s new game. I just hope it’s not a Miyamoto / Nintendo game.

Wrong! Zing!

If you look closely to the video there is a WOMAN in the fog.

So expect something like Jade, Kellee Santiago or i don’t know.

imo either:

mikami/ea project
ken levine
david jaffe

I think it will be ken levine though, david jaffe’s game sounds like it still might not be at e3 (taking some lessons from valve eh jaffe? ;) ) and gttv is just to american focused i think to go to the bother of getting someone like mikami on the show tbh =/

It won’t be the Mikami/Suda thing.

If that gets shown at E3 in any form like at the EA presser, I’ll eat a hat.

I’ll remember that.

Werent you already scheduled to eat a hat for some other reason? I cant quite remember what.

Who actually qualifies for the title of legendary when it comes to creating games? I would argue there are plenty of designers who deserve great accolades, but I’m not sure many genuinely qualify for “legendary”.

I would say there’s only 2 or 3 designers who are genuine legends, will this announcement be from one of them?

@ 22

Seeing as it says “unveils HIS top secret new project” I’m kind of guessing it’s not going to be a woman, but please carry on flying your zing flag for everyone to see.

@28 Yeah, i know about that. But it’s not like David Jaffe have a legendary woman designer that is working with him.

Thats why i brought Jade and Kellee Santiago as an example, Because Kellee Santiago is a president of ThatGameCompany and there is a lead designer: Jenova Chen that is known for the works like Flower or Flow. If you look closely there is a woman in the fog and she is going to present something.

Maybe i’m wrong.

Itagaki/Valhalla – unless they’d want the stage to themselves, before they show what they’re going to.

I think your obsession of looking closely at women in fog is rather worrying, you should just let it go.

Itigaki did say he was going to reveal the new game his company has been working on soon. Considering he’s a big 360 fanboy, it could be exclusive, and most likely involving tits that defy gravity and terrible voice acting.

Wouldn’t it just blow your fucking minds if it turns out Kojima (who respects and is greatly respected by Itigaki) reveals Valhalla is working on Zone of the Enders 3. If it happens, someone owes me a cookie! With macadamia nuts, coconut and chocolate chips!
