Shocker: First round of BlizzCon tickets sold out

Thursday, 3rd June 2010 15:52 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

The first round of BlizzCon tickets went up for sale last night, and sold out within 30-minutes.

Shocker, eh? Not really. Tickets to BlizzCon always sell quickly. Last year, tickets sold out in 8-minutes.

The next round of tickets are set to go on sale June 5, at 10.00am PST, so if you didn’t get in this round, best of luck to you this Saturday.

Here’s hoping the unannounced MMO will be revealed at the event, along with an actual date for Diablo 3.

only a half hour? Blizzard your slipping ;)

then again last year there was the speculation of their new game being revealed (diablo 3) that hasn’t happened this year yet.

Proof yet again that Blizzard is the most loved developer on the planet.
I mean, seriously, not even the World Cup tickets sold this fast…

The reason it took longer this year is because they do a queue instead. When you click add to cart it places you in a queue. It only actually lets a certian number of sales go at a single time to avoid breaking the system. Great idea, and it worked amazingly.

But yea, it puts a wait time to actually complete the purchase. When I clicked to see what place I would get put in 5 minutes after it went on sale I was well beyond the point I would be able to get a ticket (est 2.5 hour wait)

@3: Is that accurate? That would mean that the tickets basically sold out in about 3 minutes.

Yup, when I entered the queue it showed about 85% left, and was down to 45% in probably 5 minutes. But keep in mind its only half the tickets…so its hard to say it sold out, even though with that many people im sure it would have just as fast if they put them all online.
