Green Day: Rock Band gets full American Idiot album

american idiot

Buying Green Day: Rock Band come summer? Good news for you, then: American Idiot will be included in its entirety.

And we mean the full 12 track album that includes Jesus of Suburbia, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and more in full, and not just the song “American Idiot”.

The album will be the first to be included in a retail Rock Band game ever since the series’ inception in 2007.

“We wanted to have the entire ‘American Idiot’ album in the game,”project lead, Chris Foster, told G4. “It’s like one album that’s meant to be heard and played as one unit. So you have the ability to do that. It’s the first time we’ve shipped any game with a full album involved in it.”

Awesome stuff, kids.

Green Day: Rock Band releases on June 8 worldwide for PS3, 360 and Wii.

Wow, that’s really cool actually! It’s an awesome album.

I appreciate the need to do the full American Idiot album, as it is a concept piece.

However, I do hope they put plenty of classic Green Day on there, too. I love American Idiot and 21st Century Break Down, but there older stuff is a lot of fun too.

It’s better than the butchering activision do instead , but no thanks still .

A game centered on a single band should feature more that one full album and clustered tracks from others .

The standard for band centered music games should be a rather exhaustive list of tracks .

@3 Put simply – No.

The idea of a franchise music game isn’t to be playing through the entire discography of some mediocre band, with all the filler and B-sides that entails, it’s most definitely to play through the good stuff, and not having to suffer the refuse.

Green Day has about two albums you’ll ever want to listen to, and yet they cram 47 songs and numerous B-sides into a game “chronicling” their career. That’s a pretty bold move in itself if you ask me.

Do not want. Green Day are one the most over rated bands going. American Idiot got on my tits.

@4-5

I agree with you 100%. American Idiot is by far the worst CD of Green day.

@DeSpiritusBellum

I dont think you get the point . I dont give a damn about Green day , i feel the same way about them only having very few songs worth listening .

Just replace it with a band you actually love . I doubt then you’d be against getting a proper selection of tracks and would only care about a few .

If you buy a band’s game you obiously care enough about them .

I just find the process of having so few songs for a band or artists , and with even filler crap material in activision’s equivalent , ludicrous .

Those arent even really done as actual best of , but rather as “let’s put the cheapest stuff we can get away with , along with a few hits”

@7 All well and good, but 47 tracks + B-sides still is on par, at least for every rhythm game I’ve played.

It isn’t a boxed set, it’s a videogame. It’s supposed to appeal to Joe Ordinary who just listens to Green Day on the radio, as well as to the anonymous 13 year old chick who has their posters all over her wall.

Mind you that the whole idea is still to play through the bands career, which means the songs are all to be used by the player, it’s not just a catalogue of songs.

I’ve worked with music for the better part of a decade now, and if there’s one thing I’ve understood it’s that nobody ever cares as much about the bands I like as I do. You just have to restrict yourself at a certain point if you want to be inclusive.

That being said, I’m sure you’re right. Once Harmonix grow a pair and make Motörhead: (Best) Rock Band (Ever), I’ll be on the frontlines complaining about every little detail.

Imo with so little content , there is no reason (besides obvious cash in) it aint dlc . Those games have published album as dlc quite a few times .

This week alone had a jimmy hendrix album as dlc .

If all you’re going to do is mash up together dlc material meh (and that’s exactly what activision does , and what EA did with ACDC rock band) .
Of course i realise the average joe wont think like that i will probably lap it up .

Now if it’s a real game with the vision and style (rofl) of greenday , and with an actual new gameplay features …. like they did with the Beatles , then scratch my comments

They’ve already used one Motorhead song, so they’ve pretty much covered their back catalogue.
