EA Sports Active is to get a full sequel this autumn, the company said at GDC overnight.

Active 2.0 (a working title) is going to be a truly cross-platform affair, releasing for Wii, PS3, iPod touch and iPhone.

The title will deliver a “new suite of fitness products”, providing “true fitness results by featuring an innovative wireless control system powered by new leg and arm straps with motion sensors, a heart rate monitor to capture intensity and a new online hub to track and share workout data.”

There are no details yet as to how it’s going to work with the mobile platforms.

There’s a press release here.

EA confirmed in its Q3 fiscal call in February that the million-selling franchise would see release on other platforms this year.

EA Sports has two real-world retail stores dedicated specifically to EA Sports Active in the US.

No 360 version, eh? That Natal release date (or lack thereof) is starting to kick them in the shins a bit now.
