Metroid: Other M gets screens blowout

Nintendo’s released a brand new batch of shots for Metroid: Other M.
Get them below.
As it is, as far as we know, this is the only batch of media you’re going to see from the game this week, as there was no new trailer of it shown during Nintendo’s Media Summit earlier tonight.
The company confirmed at the event Other M would release in the US on June 27. Expect a European date to come tomorrow at a similar event.
The title was announced at E3 last June as a surprise collaboration between Tecmo’s Team Ninja and Nintendo.
Get everything from the Ninty Media Summit here.

This game is actually starting to look quite bad. It seemed like one of the more impressive games at Nintendos E3 conference but its starting to dawn upon my that it’ll no doubt be a linear beat’em all more then anything else with a totally shit story, especially when its being made by Team Ninja.
Shame, because just like Arkham Asylum, the ability to free-roam and need to back track when you’ve upgraded to open new paths is what made the other Metroid games awesome.

521×293? Have these been re-sized or is the game not even running in 480p?
I really wish Nintendo would just make more 2D Metroid games…

It is 2D… kinda.
It will be side scrolling mostly with the ability to switch to visor mode to fully explore in 3D.
However, the game is looking kinda bad.

Switch to visor mode? Not sure where you heard that, what i heard is that at some point the game FORCES you into first-person segments which is all on-rails. Its not optional or manual.

Ahh Super Metroid. How I miss thee. At least this version doesn’t look to be full 3D like the previous ones which were nowhere near as good as Super Metroid. *hugs cat*

Oh i see, you can go into first person at any time but you cant move around in it, just point at the screen and shoot like in an on-rails shooter.

Reading it again… i’m not sure if I was correct.
It may be that you can move into the environments…. like go down 3D spaced corridors.

Actually you’re right, i think i misunderstood that too, i read:
“[...]then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages”.
As instantly change at will, when it could mean what i first thought it was; First-person, on-rail segments.

Good grief, that looks awful!
Is there a video of it anywhere? Surely it must look better in motion?
