modernwarfare29

Modern Warfare 2′s ninth successive British number one has taken the game into the top three best-selling UK titles of all time.

Said Chart-Track this morning, the game is now the third biggest game ever in terms of UK history unit sell-through, hitting the milestone last week, after eight weeks on sale.

The current number one in terms of lifetime sales is Nintendo’s Dr Kawashima on DS, released in June 2006.

Second is GTA San Andreas, initially released on PS2 in November 2004 and then on Xbox and PC in 2005.

No specific numbers were given. This is Chart-Track, after all.

Modern Warfare 2 held of challenges this week from Wii Fit Plus and Ubi’s Just Dance in the UK, with newcomers Bayonetta and Darksiders ranking sixth and eighth respectively.

Apparently brain training sold over 3m… so I wouldn’t be at all surprised if MW2 can eventually beat it. Assuming the expected eventual budget releases.

Apparently MW2 is currently at just under 3m sold in the UK (how crazy is that, 3m in just the UK in a couple of months)
