No map modding for Supreme Commander 2, says GPG

Gas Powered Games’ Chris Taylor has told IGN that there will be no map modding for Supreme Commander 2 when it releases in the spring.

He did however stress that the game’s engine will be moddable.

Taylor also confirmed that the game will do away with GPGnet, instead using Steam for matchmaking.

The Square Enix-published RTS sequel is due for a release on PC and Xbox 360 on March 16 in the US.

No EU date yet, other then “spring”.

I don’t get why companies go out of their way to make decent matchmaking/stat tracking software then ditch it. Relic did the same with Relic Online and Dawn of War 2 which uses GFWL instead of their own, vastly superior service.

    It’s just stupid and lazy.

My enthusiasm for this game is waining after this news and Eurogamers preview yesterday.

The first one promised so much and delivered nothing – this is certainly OFF my list

SupCom is the best RTS since Total Annihilation.
