Gran Turismo 5 not heading West until “summer 2010″

The associate producer for Gran Turismo 5, Chris Hinojosa-Miranda, announced that the racer will be released sometime during summer 2010 outside of Japan, while confirming the country’s March release.
Hinojosa-Miranda also stated that he was planning a trip to the states in order to photograph cars for reference material, but told D’toid that it was not for the current game or DLC but to stock up on material archives.
He also told the site that DLC was still being considered, but had nothing to announce at this time, same goes for any differences between the Japanese and Western releases.
A demo for GT5 hits PSN next week, and the full feature list, according to Hinojosa-Miranda, will be announced soon.

OTOH, it’s more sensible for Sony to pace their releases like this then to have their two biggest hitters in the same month.

…and summer will quickly be Christmas.
Also, weren’t they going to show Top Gear episodes through some kind of GTTV service? Is that still going to happen?

GOOD!
Imagine the sales during the dry summer period!
@Mike
They never announced the Western date as March so it’s not like this is a delay.

@Mike, there are the most recent episodes of Top Gear on GTTV. At the moment they have a documentary on the GTAcademy winer, which is (apparently) pretty awesome.
As fo the release, I hope summer means… May…
Maybe this is US, afterall US usually get it’s last. I hope so.

@PUD
Ahhh, the greatest of all SUMMER months… May -.-
I’d imagine both the US and EU will get it simultaneously (well, in the same week) and I’m hoping the release date is July.

“A demo for GT5 hits PSN next week”
Will that be $40, or are they just making GT5P free to download?

@Cort: I bought both of those and they’re not really comparable, are they?
The Polyphony lot have managed to get a cash injection midway in development and people seem happy to pay it.
