Q2 PS3 and PSP software up, PS2 in inverted 15-G powerdive
Both PS3 and PSP software sales showed growth for the second quarter, Sony said today.
PS3 moved 23.9 million games in the period ending September 30 compared to 21.2 million a year previous.
PSP software was up to 12.9 million from 11.8 million a year ago.
PS2 game sales, however, properly cratered, down from 23.2 million in Q2 2008 to 11.1 million this year.

I guess that kills my idea that it was general hardware sales.
Poor Sony.

The number of new PS2 games actually coming out has plummeted too, though. I guess the drop was only to be expected.

Aside from Atlus is anyone still making PS2 games? Are Atlus even making them after Persona 4 and Devil Summoner 2?
I do love the PS2 though, been playing a fair few gems i’ve missed over it’s life cycle, which seems to be tons as I’ve played it more than my 360 and PS3 this year!

EA are still doing some, and all the music games still make it to PS2 – DJ Hero’s out this week, for instance.

WTF? Seriously DJ Hero? Then again in 5 years with a new generation:
“DJ Hero has been cherished for 3 generations, millions of gamers have scratched their way to the top. Now YOU can, AS HANNAH MONTANA!”
