Warren Spector’s Epic Mickey is about “thinking and artwork”

epicmickey

A source close to Disney has revealed details concerning Warren Spector’s Epic Mickey, to Eurogamer.

The reason Wii was chosen, according to the source, is due to Mickey’s tools: paintbrushes, erasers, thinner, pencils and artist tools. These tools are mapped to Wii remote gestures.

According to the source, the game is also about exploration, thinking and artwork, where you must use your environment to overcome puzzles.

Mickey will also be getting “his first makeover in years” which is why “no one’s seen his face yet, but he’s far more retro than you’ve seen him for years.”

There’s more through the link along with a bit of background story.

If you want to put another spin on that Johnny, the fact it’s on the Wii might just give it even more exposure, simply because it has such a huge player-base. The whole Disney thing will also draw in lots of outside observers.

And surely… having so many people experience what will potentially be an amazing game is a good thing?

The idea that it being on the Wii would somehow “cripple” it visually is one I don’t get either. Play Okami with a composite cable on the PS2, and it still looks absolutely beautiful.

Warren Spector has a solid track record for genuine innovation and inspiring creativity. I don’t think he’s going to fail us.
