Square Enix looking at PSN and XBL for possible DLC for FFXIII

Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase has said that Square Enix are “exploring” the option of releasing possible DLC for the game on the PSN and Xbox Live with new items, areas or enemies, although nothing is set in stone yet.

If there was to be DLC for the game, it wouldn’t tie into the story.

Anything story related will stay on the disc(s).

“We are exploring the option of downloadable content, perhaps adding new areas, items or enemies, but these would not be expansions to the story, only the gameplay. The entire story of FF13 will be on the disc,” according to Kitase.

This would mark a major u-turn after the publisher stated there would be no DLC for the game at all a while back.

I love Lost Odyssey, but the DLC was crap in a large part because it was so disconnected from the rest of the game. There are bound to be little bits of history or world building they can use to make it fit into the whole better.

here we go… the stupid greedy nickel and dime trick.
I really hope they have some form of respect for the franchise and don’t milk this.

Hopefully they’ll use Bethesda’s quality example and build upon that making their FFXIII DLC even greater.

Ghetto – I would love it if they did the Bethesda route, but lets be honest: it wont happen.

all we will probably get is some cheap dlc with some weapons that suck, accessories/armor that are crap, and maybe a new side dungeon that is insanely impossible to beat that gives you a reward that is complete worthless, although if they had dlc that gave some new summons(i.e. knights of the round) that would be cool

Not really worried or excited with this its a good sign they aren’t doing what the Western side does make a half baked game then tie in DLC to make that much more money. If they want to do something cosmetic like change costume or the like I might just get something for it if the price isn’t too expensive.
