Hatimaki’s compared a bunch of real-life Japanese locations to still from GT5, as you can see here.
Looks as though Polyphony’s got busy with a little creative license there. A good thing, from the look of it.

Especially the repeating trees. A kind of extrareality where all trees of the same kind look exactly the same.
Not as noticeable in motion thankfully.

The comaprison are really bad.
Firstly the real camera shots are so wide, in comparison, to the GT ones, where it’s clerly zoomed. There’s FAR less peripheral vision to compare.
And secondly, it’s off screen, which makes the colour chnage depending on the ambient light the screen is in., if it’s yellow, then the screen will appear more blue, etc etc.
