Riccitiello: PS3 price-cut is a “great move”
EA CEO John Riccitello has told the Chicago Tribune that the newly introduced price-cut for the PS3 has come at the “right time” and is a “great move”.
He also praised Sony for not doing it just before Christmas or Thanksgiving.
“Consumers will likely be bombarded during the holiday season with an onslaught of messages from companies selling everything from DVDs to TVs to cell phones. Doing the price cut in the middle of August instead really stands out,” he said.
Sony cut the price of the PS3 to £249/$299/€299 on Tuesday at their GamesCom conference which went into effect as of yesterday.

Yeah, maybe it was Kotick’s threat to pull support for the PS3 that pushed Sony into dropping the price.
Activision are soooooooo good for the games industry with their price awareness.

Kotick’s threat to pull support for the PS3 that pushed Sony into dropping the price? So what? They quickly made the Slim to after the threat?

quicked?
I really don’t think Activision forced Sony to do it thats why Sony practically said fuck you in more or less words to Koticks response because they already knew they had a Ps3 slim coming out in a few months they were just waiting for this exact moment to do so.

As Sir Howard (I think) said, Kotick’s whining was just noise, intended to smother other things. What followed very soon after? Some discrete Acti announcements of big prices for new games and increased prices for next iterations of existing IPs.
Things rarely happen by accident or coincidence in big business.
