Sony’s GC Press Event: BBC iPlayer coming to PS3

SCEE’s just announced that the BBC iPlayer is coming to the PS3 as of Firmware 3.0.

It’s from SCEE’s GC press conference – it’s live now.

They announced providers for each country getting such a service, of which iPlayer/UK was just one. It wasn’t a big “iPlayer for the UK” announcement.

Different countries, different TV channels. Only for Europe though. This + PlayTV + VidZone + Movie Store (soon) means European PS3 owners are doing ok for video content. Heh.

I use iplayer through the browser on my ps3 all the time but it is a bit of a faff, I’m very pleased about this :D
