PSP Go – hi-res product shots

Oh dear. Eurogamer’s published hi-res grabs of PSP Go, which appears to have been inadvertently “announced” in an early copy of June’s Qore today.
Watch the movie here. in addition, SCEA’s John Koller’s seemingly confirmed a new Metal Gear for the machine – get details on that here.

What happened to the vastly superior PSP-4000 design we saw some months ago?

Sliding is so out of fashion…. Rhinestones should be plastered over that thing though. And somewhere to store your chihuaha.

Since I only ever played God of War and GTA on the PSP, but watched a lot of TV series on it, I liked the previous way more. And I like sliding, fuk u buttons, no one needs you.

I’m guessing because they want to make sure the games for PSPGO! are still compatible with the “old” PSP. If they make dual-thumbstick PSPGO! software title, it could only be played on the fledgling Go! and I don’t think Sony is prepared to completely segregate the old PSP away just as yet. Too many potential sales lost.

Why the *fuck* would you design a slide mechanism that doesn’t protect the screen?

@Rhythm – Ask HTC and other mobile phone makers. They make another phones that way!

That looks kind of nice. I’m not sure about the analogue nub placement, though – surely it’d have been better to have the d-pad and the nub switched around?

Too bad they didn’t put in the second analog stick. It seems with this one that users will now be able to download games that frustrate you because of lack of a second stick.

Ok, I’ve got an original PSP and all I know is I want the new Metal Gear, new Gran Turismo, new Motorstorm, and new Little Big Planet all to work on the original PSP. I’ll be happy if they do by download, but I for one actually like having a collection of cases and hard copy games on my shelf. I hope UMD is still an option for original PSP owners with the new games…
