Team Ninja wants Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 to be “sleek and sexy”

Team Ninja wants Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 to be “sleek and sexy,” and not as violent as others in the series.

Producer and director Yosuke Hayashi has told CVG that the team working on the PS3 version is “kind of egoistic” and gets “bored with the same continuous concept”: that’s why it’s shying away from a direct Xbox 360 port.

Hayash doesn’t want it to be namby pamby, but he does want to “start evolving this game.”

More through the link. It’s out later this year.

I sure hope they delay this game when it’s released to the west in order to add the blood from Ninja Gaiden 2 back in. Let Japan have its toned down, Disneyfied version of Ninja Gaiden 2, give western audiences the same amount of blood as in Ninja Gaiden 2. It would be a shame if this game sold as poorly as Valkyria Chronicles just because of a developer’s attempts to make it acceptable to a wider audience in Japan.

Speaking as someone who (only) owns a 360, this isn’t necessarily as bad as it sounds. The blood was *way* over the top in NG2. Just toning it down a little would do wonders for being able to tell your head from your opponent’s goatse’d rear end in the heat of limb-lopping combat.

Now, if they go all the way and tone the blood down to next-to-nothing, that would suck for you guys. Or chaps. This being a UK blog. I know that “sleek and sexy” vision would make me a little nervous.
