Wii has shattered predictions to sell more than 800,000 units in the US on October, according to NPD figures released tonight.
As mooted by Microsoft exec Mindy Mount today, Xbox 360 has scored a heavy victory over PS3, outselling the Sony console by almost 100 percent.
Here’s the score:
- PlayStation 2 - 136K
- PlayStation 3 - 190K
- PSP – 193K
- Xbox 360 – 371K
- Wii – 803K
- Nintendo DS – 491K

No offence to the games becuase they are good, and I ahve tried them, but Microsoft doesn’t have rights or contracts to some of the best selling games ever becuase they are the best games ever.
It’s becuase they can hire expert marketing teams.
And more to the point, they hire marketing teams that don’t then leave the advert film along with the car keys locked in the car, spending it’s 5 week airing schedule trying to lockpick the car door with sausages.

GTAIV is my favourite example this year. If I wasn’t browsing every second watching GIFs of Euphoriated individuals, I might have seen through the hype.
KillZone 2 looks stunning and fun, and certain individuals at GAF posting as positively as they did, make me confident. But I shan’t board viral hype train just yet, I am happy here on the normal hype train, where I can speak normally without dribbling on other people, and yet be conservatively excited.
EDIT: It’s fun when it actually is as fun as you expected it to be, and leaves you jonesing though.

It’s probably the only thing keeping Sony from collapsing spectacularly out of the console hardware business.

I have no idea, but they told me that they were going to put two HDMI ports in every PS3, so I want a PS3 with 2 HDMI ports.
Maybe so that I can play 2 player on 2 screens with only one console, or maybe so I can play Gran Turismo and watch spiderman 3 on Blu-ray at the same time…
I don’t care.
They promised it, so they should release it.
I would have paid big money for that console, but they released some half baked effort instead.
