Bleszinski wants “Clive Owen type” as Marcus in Gears movie
The Gears of War movie isn’t going to be some cheap thing full of cheese and muscle. No sir. It’s going to have people that can “actually act,” according to game dev lead and film producer Cliff Bleszinski.
“Definitely not a wrestler,” he said when asked by IGN who he’s going to get to play the lead role.
“I think just go with a real actor. You know… like a Clive Owen type; somebody who can actually act and is incredibly charismatic. And they can put him on a workout plan for six months so he can build the muscle mass he needs.”
More through there. The film’s got no date yet.

Hmm. As much as Clive Owen is an actor deserving of greater exposure I have only two words for ‘Clffy’ B:
BILL PAXTON

If Clive Owen is going to be in that film then I’ve seen it already.

WTF? He wants someone who can act; why then did they have such a cheesy cliched script in GoW?
He doesn’t want a wrestler; Why did they make the character in GoW with the same sort of build as a wrestler?
He wants someone charismatic; why did they make the characters in the game so bloody 2d then?

Keep dreaming, “Clffy B”!
This movie will be utter crap, just like 99% of all the other game-to-movie conversions.
I say 99% because “Silent Hill” is quite good IMHO.
