June NPD: Wii overtakes 360 and US console leader

June NPD figures – as predicted by Reggie in Nintendo’s E3 press conference on Tuesday – have shown that Wii has overtaken Xbox 360 to become the biggest selling American home console of this generation.

According to the group, Wii has now sold 10.9 million machines in America, compared to Xbox 360′s 10.4 million.

Well, there we have it. Didn’t take nearly as long as they predicted, did it? We weren’t supposed to get here until Christmas.

At current sales rates I think three years is probably about right. Two if they’re lucky.

Well.. if a game of MGS4′s calibre gets released every month it would take about 30 months (based on a 200k difference per month).
