All Rock Band Euro tracks to cost 160 MS Points

rockband9.jpg

Even more bad news for European rock star wannabes. With this morning’s confirmation that the Rock Band Instrument Pack does not include the actual game, meaning the product in its entirety will cost £180, the press release EA put out this morning appears to confirm that all downloadable tracks for the 360 version will cost 160 MS Points.

Prices in the US start from 80 Points, as you can see from the American DLC pricing announcement here.

“Rock Band’s unprecedented offering of over 70 songs to date currently available for purchase and download in the US will be made available in Europe beginning on Tuesday, May 27th. Each track will be available for 160 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360,” the press release said today. “Following that date, all new Rock Band DLC will be available simultaneously in the US and Europe on a weekly basis. For a complete list of Rock Band songs available for purchase to date, please go to http://www.rockband.com/dlc.”

We’re waiting on comment from EA. Better start thinking about a re-mortgage.

It’s almost like they don’t want to sell any outside the US.

EA are the kings of milking wasp-teats when it comes to Microcontent. Why is this such a surprise to people?

I love how EA usually “announce” a game officially by making sure you can pick up the gamerpics and dashboard theme first – y’know, before there’s even a whiff of the trailer, the demo etc. Bless ‘em.

EA games – artificially inflating the price of games beyond RRP since…well forever really

This isn’t really in the same league as the headline price issue. There have only every been a handful of (mostly shitty) tracks available at 80 points and the first wave were hiked up to 160 after a month or so anyway. I expect the second pack to be 160 for US players by the time we get to hand over our £180 or whatever.

Of more note is the fact that we WON’T get screwed on DLC release schedules.

To make something really f*cking expensive is one thing, but please make it expensive across the globe. Then it will be like buying a nice Yacht or a Maserati: look everyone, I’m a poser. Which is nice.

This is not nice, this is taking Europeans from behind, like I read somewhere else. What the hell? Is it because we have royalty?
