STALKER 2 devs provide some background on in-engine gameplay teaser

GSC Gameworld has released some additional information on the STALKER 2 in-engine gameplay teaser it released a couple of weeks back.

According to the developer, the character you will play in STALKER 2 is Skif, and his actions will shape the new chapter in the history of the Zone.

The short scene you saw takes place in the ruined school on the outskirts of the dead town of Pripyat. It's an extremely dangerous place, and doesn't seem to be quite abandoned. Skif is in a hurry though, as if something is following him so he doesn't have time to investigate.

Apparently, this danger is an emission that is a signature part of the STALKER series. This release of anomalous energy from the center of the Zone happens from time to time and can kill you quickly.

When a stalker notices a start of emission, they should hide immediately and wait for the end of it. You can hide by looking for cover in a nearby building and hope that it too isn't harboring any sort of danger.

GSC Gameworld says the game is currently "progressing smoothly," including Xbox Series X/S versions, and the team's aim is to "deliver the product of the highest quality possible on every platform it’s announced for."

"With fast SSD, RTX support (both Series X and S) and 4K-resolution (Series X), we’re pleased to see how STALKER 2 is shaping up to be the ultimate experience we’ve initially promised," reads the blog post.

Announced in 2018, an exact release date for STALKER 2 has yet to be provided, but it will be released on Xbox Series X/S and PC as well as day one on Xbox Game Pass.
