Project Cafe round-up: First mock-up, analyst price predictions, tracking tech

Nintendo's rumoured "Project Cafe" has spawned its first probably-completely-fake design documents, while analysts predict the new console will distance itself from the Wii brand.

"Its successor's name will not include the word 'Wii'," EEDAR analyst Jessie Divnich told NowGamer.

The analyst said the Wii had alienated the core gamer, and Nintendo would have to work hard to make up lost ground with this demographic.

Divnich said he couldn't predict a price for the new Nintendo console because he knew "little of its components", but did hazard a $299 to $349 range.

The Kyoto Report has added to hardware speculation by claiming Nintendo Technology Development, is working on "tracking systems and head-mounted stereoscopic displays".

Meanwhile, the Internet is starting to vomit out "leaked" information and images. Kotaku took the mock up below from 4Chan; the original post seems to have been removed in the meantime.

Late last week, several games press outlets began posting information on a new, unrevealed Nintendo console. Codenamed Project Cafe, the hardware - if it actually exists - is expected to debut at E3 this year.

Sources credit the console with full HD, improved motion controls, controllers fitted with LCD screens, a Blu Ray drive, greater power under the hood than the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, and the power to cure scrofula.
