Perhaps custom game controllers have gone too far, as you can now buy a gold-plated PS4 controller with diamond-studded buttons for just under $14,000.
The Lux DualShock 4 controller is exactly that: it’s a garish custom DualShock 4, complete with 24 karat yellow gold as its coating, and multiple diamonds embedded in it. There are two versions, the “classic” coming in at $8,495 (about £6,475) while “deluxe” is $13,995 (about £10,660).
The difference between the two lies in the buttons, as the classic version only features one custom button, the PlayStation button, while the deluxe version has a total of nine 18k gold buttons, each studded with multiple diamonds.
Described as being “designed for the gamer with impeccable taste,” it can also come with custom options like being plated with different metals or different gems to be embedded. They also use the word “perspicacious” at one point, in case you weren’t sure they were serious about this being an incredibly over the top controller.
Customisations like trigger stops and custom stick heights can also be requested for this controller, so there is technically some benefit to it. There are cheaper options out there, though, if that’s the feature drawing you in.
It’s available now, in case you have that much cash lying around. Try not to get cheese dust on it, though.
